Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) for natural anti-inflammatory. .
Contains 24,000 mg of methylsulfonylmethane per ounce or 9,000mg per serving/scoop.
Several amino acids and a number of B vitamins contain or interact with sulfur. MSM is an excellent source of sulfur which is believed to inhibit pain impulses along the nerve fibers, as well as work to reduce inflammation. In horses, studies have shown that when used as part of an overall therapy program, MSM may be helpful in reducing lameness, arthritis, pain, OCD, synovits, puffy hocks, promotes rapid hoof growth and shiny hair and rids internal parasites and gastric ulcers in foals.
Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, many veterinarians feel that MSM is particularly useful for the reduction of pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
Inflammation is the way the body responds to injury or physical stress. Dilation of blood vessels will lead to an increase in blood flow and the excess blood causes heat and swelling. If left unchecked, chronic inflammation can lead to soft tissue damage. We like to address the situation before it becomes chronic and accomplish this as a two part process. First, determine the cause of the stress/injury and if possible, work to reduce or eliminate it (for example, corrective shoeing). Second, add MSM to the horses feed.
The benefit of feeding straight MSM over a commercially blended product is that you can control how much support your specific horse gets. A majority of commercial supplements deliver entirely too little MSM.
